In 2022, a garbage sorting system will be introduced into all houses of the private sector in Tashkent. Further, in 2023 there will be a separate collection of household waste in all districts.

Tashkent is planning to apply a system of garbage splitting, a method widely applied throughout the world. The system is to be introduced in 24 neighbourhoods by the end of this year. Moreover, families who will sort waste into organic, recyclable and non-recyclable will receive an incentive in the form of a reduction in the rate for waste collection.

Colored bags will be distributed to each family. Thus, in yellow it is necessary to collect recyclable waste, in green organic waste, and in gray non-recyclable waste.

Garbage trucks will come to the neighbourhoods with stickers of the same colors twice a week. In total, “Makhsustrans” purchased 59 vehicles using grant funds from the Asian Development Bank.
